Vacancy in the Tardis?

The Daily Mirror is reporting that Jenna Coleman will be leaving her role during this years Christmas special. Coleman has been playing Clara Oswald for the past 18 months. Their sources have stated:

“The conversations about Jenna’s exit have started, and a plan is in place which is being ironed out.”

“It was very much a mutual decision.”

“It’s important to keep the series moving and fast-paced, and the time is just starting to feel right and the feeling is that it could be a perfect Christmas storyline.”

So a week before we get to see Capaldi’s debut episode we already know that his companion in leaving at the end of the season. What do you think about the news? Will you be sad that she’s gone? Or are you excited to see who comes next?

Dark Journey Episode 5

“They say you judge a man on the strength of his enemies.”

The Doctor journeys to his darkest place searching out the truth that will save the day in this final episode of Doctor Who Dark Journey!

A few days ago I had the chance to talk to Mike Tamburro, Clayton Turner and the ‘Cool Beans’ Doctor himself, Andrew Chalmers regarding the first four episodes of Dark Journey. Five questions turned into eighteen minutes of conversation about the good times and the bad that the Doctor has gone through so far. It was a great chat, please give it a listen, you won’t be disappointed!

But all good things must come to an end. Tonight I listened to the last episode, Death On Baker Street. The amazing folks over at AMAudioMedia.com courteously provided me with an advance copy of this final episode, letting me be among the first to hear the completed version, and I am honoured!

So, what can you expect from this final episode without getting too spoilery? Stuff. It happens. Lots of it. Oh, a little too vague there? Okay, well in the last episode we see the Doctor going to his dark place in an attempt to learn the truth behind the brutal Jack the Ripper murders. He finds out, but gets more than he bargains for. Who are the Illuminatios and what is their connection to all of this? Where do the Watchers fit in?

This is my favourite kind of final episode. Jammed full of info and surprising reveals sandwiched between great action scenes and trademark humour from our two heroes. And, of course, you are left wanting more!

It’s been fun talking to Mike, Andrew and Clayton over the past couple of months and getting the word out about this awesome project. But they aren’t done yet. Not by a long shot. Next week I will post an interview with the guys about the future of Dark Journey!

Dark Journey Interview-Spoilers

The last episode of Doctor Who Dark Journey will go live Saturday July 5th at 5:35. The moment has been prepared for, as I have heard someone say before. I sat down with Andrew ‘the cool beans Doctor’ Chalmers, Producer Mike Tamburro and Clayton ‘Claytec’ Turner for another interview discussing the series so far. We talk about the humour, the darkness, Season three of Dark Journey featuring the Master as  a stay at home mom… You name it. Andrew had a large glass of red cider, so there was no stopping him! Warning, there is spoilers about the previous four episodes here, so why not check them out before you listen to the interview!

New Series 8 Photos-Spoilers

Some new photos have recently turned up from the filming of Series 8. None of them are super spoilery, but if you haven’t heard the latest casting news, then you might want to avoid them.

The photos also feature some sexy orange space suits that we’ve seen a few times over the past five years.

Help Wanted

Finally we have a help wanted add for TIMD. We are looking for someone who follows news for the new series and would be interested in contributing small write ups as it happens.

12 to 1 Full Circle?

Den of Geek had an interesting article up about Series 8. There are some minor spoilers in here, so please look away if you want everything to be a surprise.

There was some casting news previously, notably that there would be a new ‘companion’ in Danny Pink, a teacher at Coal Hill School. Whether he is a real companion traveling with the Doctor in the tardis remains to be seen. Also joining the cast is a younger girl, who will play his sister, a pupil at the school. Don’t forget Clara was a teacher there as well.

Let me just get my checklist out… Okay, Ian? Check. Barbara? Check. Susan? Check. Older Doctor? Check. It looks like they may be setting things up to mirror the original crew of the tardis. What does this mean for series 8? Are they going to battle cave men and try to start fire? Meet Marco Polo again? Unlikely, but a possible return to that original dynamic is exciting and intriguing!

Doctor Returns to a Classic Location!- Spoilers

The BBC has released more information regarding an upcoming episode from season 8! The episode, directed by Peter Harness, will feature Hermione Norris

Steven Moffat had this to say:

…For the first time since 1984, the Doctor Who production team is heading to Lanzarote. The Doctor is returning to the scene of an old adventure – but there have been sinister changes since his last visit.

Lanzarote hasn’t been seen since 1984, when the fifth Doctor faced the Master in Planet Of Fire!
